Q. How do I make the the perfect coffee?

A. Making great coffee has never been so easy. Following these few simple steps will help you achieve the perfect result, each and every time.

the single shot
  • A single shot of espresso is 30 ml, or about 2/3 of a small espresso cup.
  • Pouring more than 30ml of water through a single filter coffee holder or pod holder will extract impurities into the cup.
  • To make a long black, pour hot water into your cup from the hot water dispenser first and finish with a shot of espresso to avoid over extracting.
warm it up
  • Your machine element will heat the water for a perfect espresso to approx. 92 degrees Celsius.
  • As the water is below boiling temperature, make sure you warm your cup prior to use.
  • A warm cup will maintain the temperature and trap the aroma of the coffee.
foam the milk
  • Cold milk should always be used for foaming, as you will have more time to create foam before the milk reaches the correct temperature.
  • Fill the jug with about 1/3 of milk to allow room for making the foam.
  • Place the steam arm under the milk in the centre of the pot.
  • Keep the tip of the steam arm in the centre of the pot just under the surface of the milk as you lower the pot slowly to make the foam.
  • Place your hand on the underside of the pot. If it is too hot for your hand to remain on the pot, turn off the steam to avoid burning the milk.
  • You should finish with approximately one third more volume than what you started with.
  • Tap the pot firmly on the bench to remove remaining bubbles and swirl in a circular motion until a smooth texture is achieved.
  • You can reuse foamed milk once as long as fresh cold milk is added first.
  • Full cream milk will take a little less time to create foam than low fat milk.
  • As the steam is very hot, never place your hand, face or any part of your body in front of the steam arm or allow children to operate.
keep it fresh
  • For the very best results, the water in your machine should be changed daily.
  • Using filtered or spring natural water will create an even better espresso.
